Grace United Methodist Church  Kearny, New Jersey

Welcome

Grace United Methodist Church of Kearny has been the friendly little church on the corner since 1895. The current building begun in 1932 provides a worship setting with world class stained glass windows and an incredible pipe organ.

The congregation welcomes all based on a scriptural belief that Jesus Christ came into the world to save the people not to condemn them. All persons are welcome to attend Grace Church and receive Holy Communion. As Jesus loves all, everyone is eligible to be baptized and become members of Grace United Methodist Church.

Grace Church is affiliated with the United Methodist Church which is part of the second largest Protestant denomination in the United States. Our worldwide connection includes approximately 12.8 million members. Grace Church is part of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference.

Grace Church traces our heritage back to the movement begun in 1729 in England by John and Charles Wesley. Therefore, mission work is a critical part of the church’s daily activities. Feeding the hungry, providing warm clothing and helping those in need are a part of the Wesley tradition practiced by the members of Grace Church.

An active chapter of the United Methodist Women operates at Grace Church. The group is involved in many mission oriented activities. The group maintains a Sereni-Tea Room to make available for community events supporting women breast cancer survivors.

Grace Church and other United Methodist churches consider dialogue and missional cooperation between United Methodists and other Christians as a valid witness to the unity of the body of Christ. The Park Lunch Program initiated by and coordinated by Grace Church works cooperatively with several other Christian congregations to feed those in need every Monday at the Town Hall Park.

In addition to the activities of Grace United Methodist Church, the building is home to three other Christian congregations, four Alcohol Anonymous Groups, and the Kearny Chapter of the Optimists International. This means we strive to nurture followers of Christ who then reach out and teach others about the love of Jesus. Find out about our mission around the world.

Ecumenical: United Methodists consider dialogue and missional cooperation between United Methodists and other Christians as a valid witness to the unity of the body of Christ.
